Designer Emily Henderson from Style by Emily Henderson concurs, urging homeowners to explore art via platforms like the Samsung Art Store on The Frame TV. “You can really dive into art history and uncover a wealth of pieces,” she notes. “Picture turning The Frame into an amazing digital canvas, displaying your admiration for classics in a trendy and fresh manner in your preferred room.”
Oversized Quirky Mirrors
While some might not classify mirrors as art, modern mirrors come in a wide range—from fake windows to sculptural works of art—so this wall decor choice offers plenty of possibilities. “Wavy, brass, curved, layered—all kinds of oversized and quirky mirrors are definitely growing in popularity as 2024 wall art trends,” says designer Sarah Tract of Sarah Tract Interiors.
These design essentials also have a unique appeal and are simple to install. Mirrors can bounce light around a room, visually expand its space, and even hide architectural imperfections. Tract suggests hanging mirrors above console tables to welcome guests at the home’s entrance, or placing a full-length mirror in a bedroom to add a dramatic, practical touch.

“Watercolor remains a timeless favorite in the art realm, bringing an enchanting blend of romance and movement to any space. Its soft, ethereal quality can instantly transform a room, filling it with a sense of peace and elegance,” Henderson remarks. When adding watercolor to your decor, don’t hesitate to mix and match different pieces to create visual depth. “Whether it’s delicate floral paintings, serene landscapes, or abstract designs, each watercolor artwork tells its own distinct story,” she adds.

“2024 is all about making bolder design statements,” says designer Debbie Mathews of Debbie Mathews Antiques & Designs. “With more vibrant colors trending, the unexpected red theory gaining traction, maximalism having its moment, and wallpaper usage soaring, how we decorate our walls is just another chance to take risks and have fun.”

Sometimes, art can be a subtle accessory that creates a beautiful backdrop on any large wall without drawing all the attention. “Art that blends with your home’s materials—whether plaster, fabric, marble, or wood—acts more as an accent to tie your home together, rather than a large standalone statement piece,” Tract notes. “I love a huge neutral art piece above a sofa or in a hallway.”

“Graphic cubism is also captivating the design world with its bold yet elegant style,” says Henderson, who is particularly drawn to charcoal drawings or paintings that embrace the surreal and create a mesmerizing pattern-like effect on walls. “What’s great about this trend is its ability to make a statement without overwhelming the space,” she states. “It adds a lot of dimension and effortlessly elevates any room.” If you decide to include graphic cubism in your decor, consider mixing it with other styles for a unique look.

“Old world masterpieces, even in studio or student art versions, are making a major comeback in contemporary interior design,” Henderson says. “Whether it’s classic still lifes, peaceful seascapes, or magnificent landscapes, there’s an undeniable soulfulness in adding these timeless pieces to our modern spaces,” she adds. As a history lover herself, she finds these pieces add depth to any space and help us connect to our past.

This trendy design technique is “always fun and cost-effective, as you can make your own customized wall art,” says HGTV design expert Taniya Nayak.
